SUMMARY
The human circulatory system is a typical mammalian
system. A four-chambered heart pumps blood through
vessels organized in a double circulation system
consisting of pulmonary and systemic circuits.
This system forms an efficient means of recharging
the blood with oxygen and transporting that blood
to every cell in the mammal's body. Thus, the
circulatory system keeps the mammal's trillions
of cells alive by transporting oxygen, nutrients,
and other materials and removing wastes.
